July 2014 Harvest

We just blew away our last peak monthly harvest recorded July 2012, including 2 pounds of our first eggs, and in spite of not harvesting any rabbit meat in July (that will come early August). Also, we aren’t including in this tally any estimate of the tomato, summer squash, and peppers being harvested from our new community free pick corner.

One interesting point of comparison weather-wise. 2014 has tied 2009 as the coldest July’s, statewide, on record at 70.3 degrees. On the other hand, 2012, the last time we recorded our harvest, was the 2nd warmest on record at 81.8. It’s amazing we got any heat-loving fruits/vegetables, let alone record (for us) crops.

Here’s our totals by produce (harvest for July 2012 in parentheses).
